Within the club we have various recognised sections which members can opt to take part in the activities of: Gents; Ladies; 5 Day & Juniors. Over and above this our Seniors participate in an organised summer league and we have a 100-year-old ‘Hailes Golf Club' within our 115-year-old club which again runs its own competitions and outings.
We have a thriving Gents section with competitions throughout the year.
For those wanting competition golf we have teams for Edinburgh Golf League and Edinburgh Winter League.
Whether you are a competitive golfer or novice player progressing from our academy, our Ladies section offers a friendly welcome.
For those wanting competition golf we have teams for Midlothian, 5 A-Side and Friendly leagues.
In addition to the more formal in-club competitions, our Ladies section host many fun events including three clubs and a putter, Tex Mex, par, stableford and flag day competitions.
As the name suggests, this is a weekday membership. The section consists of men and women who find this convenient for differing reasons. Many are retired, some work at weekends and many full members join the section when they finish their working lives to free up tee times at the weekends for those less fortunate. The section has its own committee who oversee and administer all competitions including handicap, greensomes and championship competitions in addition to two outings per year to other courses.
Our increasing Junior section has players from complete beginners to single figure handicap golfers. Our aim is to develop and build on their skills from our pathway. All are made welcome and given support to enjoy and progress their game.
We've simplified our categories with one group and one very low price regardless of age.
All Junior subscription fees are allocated directly to our Junior Development Fund, this has allowed us to introduce free coaching through the playing season for all our Juniors. The Junior Development Fund is supplemented by fundraisers, sponsorship and KGC member donations.
For our Juniors with a WHS handicap, there is a full fixture list which includes major trophies, additional stableford events, and an ongoing order of merit throughout the season.
Junior members with a WHS handicap index of 14 of lower are offered the opportunity to play in men's or ladies' competitions.
Although there is no formal Seniors section the Seniors do participate in the South Edinburgh District Seniors Golf League with 5 home and 5 away fixtures generally played on Tuesday or Thursday mornings throughout the season.
The Hailes Golf Club provides Ordinary Gents Members of Kingsknowe Golf Club the opportunity to join the ‘club within the club'. The club will be celebrating its centenary year in 2023.
Members of Hailes enjoy the following opportunities:
